Any homemade granola is good, but the combination of a great recipe and an AMAZING technique in the Stolen Granola recipe from The Bojon Gourmet makes this granola recipe a true keeper.
Try-It Friday: Granola Recipe
Each Friday, I choose a tempting recipe from around the web, make it, and tell you all about the experience. This week, I’m making The Bojon Gourmet’s Stolen Granola recipe.
There are two things that make this recipe absolutely amazing: a great, basic granola recipe and a truly magnificent technique.
Great Basic Granola Recipe
Homemade Granola Ingredients:
- rolled oats
- nuts or seeds
- brown sugar
- orange zest
- cinnamon
- nutmeg
- butter
- maple syrup
- salt
How to Make Granola
The Bojon Gourmet’s stolen granola recipe starts like pretty much every other granola recipe I’ve tried: mixing the liquid ingredients (melted butter and maple syrup in this recipe) together with the dry ingredients.
This is where the magic of the recipe really comes in, though.
We’re instructed to spread out the granola on a parchment lined sheet (normal), but then to put parchment on top, and then…
…sandwich the granola mixture between a second baking pan!
The granola bakes up perfectly crisp and golden, and best of all, it clumps together perfectly. I’ve tried a lot of granola recipes that tasted great but didn’t really clump at all, so this technique was a complete revelation for me. I’m never making granola any other way from this point forward!
The only change I made to the recipe was to use sunflower seeds instead of nuts. I love nuts, but my daughter wanted to take this granola to school for lunches, and they have a strict no-nuts policy.
